Resto-GB souvenir cups

Jurassic Park souvenir cups

These 2 Jurassic Park souvenir cups were part of a larger set that were used at a Belgian restaurant chain called Resto-GB (now called Lunch Garden). They feature some nice artwork, likely produced for these cups. The artwork is very reminiscent of similar cups made for McDonald’s in 1993. The back of the cups features a description of the scene that’s printed on the front.

Jurassic Park greeting cards

I have these Jurassic Park greeting cards for a long time in my collection. I got them from a dollar store while on vacation at the Belgian sea coast. There’s quite a few different ones, ranging from just regular “Happy Birthday” cards with a photo from the movie, to more complex card that transfer into a mobile or that feature stickers and buttons. Most of them feature some really nice artwork that looks custom made for this company.

Jurassic Park Dinosaurs: Triceratops and Velociraptor

Jurassic Park Dinosaurs: Triceratops and Velociraptor

My latest eBay purchases are these two: Triceratops and Velociraptor from the 1999 Jurassic Park: Dinosaurs line. I got them from 2 separate auctions and probably overpaid slightly, but you don’t find them MOC that often any more. These are actually my first MOC JP: Dinosaurs, because at that time I decided to invest in the older Jurassic Park toys that were never released here in Belgium, like the Gallimimus, Capture Cruiser and Utahraptor. The Velociraptor is with its English-only packaging clearly part of the Walmart / Universal Studios release.  The Triceratops packaging however is slightly different and indicates this…

The Lost World: Carnotaurus

The Lost World: Carnotaurus

The Jurassic Park series 2 Carnosaurus is one of the most popular Jurassic Park toys ever. They are very hard to find and when they do pop up on eBay, you’ll have to check your Paypal balance before hitting that “buy-it-now” button… Kenner released a second Carnotaurus dinosaur in 1997 for its The Lost World: Jurassic Park toy line. It looked nothing like the original Carnotaurus released a few years earlier. It’s a lot bulkier, no soft “dino-skin” and is painted in a boring brown color. The 2 horns above the eyes are unpainted, making them very hard to stand…

Jurassic World Blu-Ray and other surprises in stores now

Jurassic World Echo, Delta, Charlie Growlers

Today is the official release date of Jurassic World on Blu-Ray here in Belgium, and many countries around the world. I rushed to my local Carrefour supermarket (it’s our Walmart or Target) right after work to get my copy. Right at the entrance there was a big stand for the Blu-Ray release with a huge Indominus Rex cut-out. At the toy department I was very surprised to find the Jurassic World Matchbox sets… I hadn’t seen these before here in Belgium. And even a bigger surprise were the Delta, Charlie and Echo Growlers!  I had no idea these were going to be released…

Jurassic Park series 2 card back

Jurassic Park series 2 card back

The Jurassic Park toy line proved very successful for Kenner, so they went ahead with a second line that featured more dinosaurs (many of which that were not attached to the movie), updated action figures to resemble the actors in the movie better and a whole new line of action figures called the Dino-Trackers (the good guys) and the Evil Raiders (the bad guys). Kenner highlighted all of these new toys on the card backs and boxes of their Jurassic Park toys and included even some figures and dinosaurs that didn’t get released at that time. Ornithosuchus, Scutosaurus and Estemmenosuchus…

The Lost World: Electronic Velociraptor

The Lost World - Electronic Velociraptor

The electronic Velociraptor from the The Lost World: Jurassic Park was released in selected countries along with the electronic Parasaurolophus. In my opinion this is one weird looking Velociraptor.  Almost everything about it is out of proportion. It’s legs are too short, the arms are too long and it’s body is way too big. The colours are completely off as well. The electronic sound is triggered by pulling the body backwards, which will also make the head snap forward and make, beside the growl, a weird clicking sound (kinda similar to the Jurassic Park series 2 Baryonyx, but that doesn’t bother…

Jurassic World gate at FACTS convention

The 25th edition of the FACTS convention take place this weekend  in Ghent, Belgium. FACTS is basically your typical comic books convention, with lots of cosplaying, expensive merchandising and Star Wars. This year Jurassic World was well represented. The huge iconic gate was recreated by prop replica group. Animatronic dinosaurs were placed in front of them and were a very popular photo location, with a queue all day long. There were lots of visitors wearing Jurassic Park t-shirts, a lot more than last year, and there were even a few Jurassic cosplayers… Sadly there was very few Jurassic Park merchandising to be found.…

Jurassic World blind bags

Jurassic World blind bags

Earlier today I found the Hasbro Jurassic World blind bags at Toy Champ, a popular toy store chain in Belgium and the Netherlands.  They had two boxes with blind bags and are 2,99 EUR each. The idea is kinda similar to the LEGO Mini Figures blind bags (they’re even the same price here), you don’t know what you’ll get. I got 12 bags in total and was allowed to take the box home as well The box and the bags feature some really nice artwork, which is rare with Hasbro’s 2015 toy line. The dinosaurs are made of very cheap plastic…
