Description

The Jurassic Park Command Compound by Kenner, released in 1993, is one of the most iconic playsets from the original Jurassic Park toy line. It was designed to replicate the high-security facilities seen in the movie, offering fans a chance to recreate scenes from the film while immersing themselves in the world of dinosaur containment and adventure.

The Command Compound is an impressive playset, structured to resemble the core of Jurassic Park’s visitor center, complete with large gates reminiscent of the movie’s iconic entrance. The set includes two giant gates with a breakaway feature, a central control room platform, fencing, and a working security system. The main platform of the compound holds the control console, allowing players to monitor “dinosaur activity,” adding an interactive element to the playset.

One of the standout features of the Command Compound is its interactive alarm system. A motion sensor can detect movements near the gate, triggering alarms, enhancing the realism of trying to manage dinosaur threats as seen in the movie. The set also features breakaway fencing, enabling dinosaurs to breach the compound, creating action-packed moments of danger and excitement for the human characters.

The playset also comes with several accessories, such as various weaponry and an incubator complete with eggs.  While the Command Compound itself doesn’t come with any action figures or dinosaurs, it was designed to be fully compatible with the other action figures from Kenner’s Jurassic Park line, such as Dr. Alan Grant, the Velociraptor, and the T-Rex figures. The dinosaurs can wreck havoc by destroying parts of the building.

The Jurassic Park Command Compound became a favorite among collectors and fans due to its large size and the level of detail that went into its design. At the time, it was one of the more expensive items in the Jurassic Park toy line, and its interactive features, combined with the breakaway fences and gates, made it a highly engaging playset. Over the years, the Command Compound has remained a prized collectible.
