Jurassic Tamagotchi are hatching again

Posted on Leave a comment

If you’re of a certain generation, you’ll remember the Tamagotchi hype from the mid 1990’s. Everyone was going crazy for the virtual pets that were created by Bandai in Japan. Soon, many other companies jumped the bandwagon and made similar toys in all shapes and kinds. The premise of a virtual pet is that you take of a virtual pet like a bird or dog that needs to be fet, entertained or played with at regular times to prevent it from “passing away”. The success of these virtual pets was so huge, that companies started releasing licensed versions, which included…

Third Jurassic Park film turns 21

Posted on Leave a comment

Jurassic Park III turned 21 on July 18 and while that’s a great excuse to look back at the (mediocre) toy line that was released by Hasbro to accompany the film’s release, there’s another major toy company that helped build anticipation for the third Jurassic film: the LEGO Group. In the early 2000’s there was no such thing as movie-inspired LEGO sets like we have now for Harry Potter, Ghostbusters, Back to the Future, Jurassic World and many more. With Star Wars being the only exception which had an X-Wing turned into a brick model in 1999, followed by sets…

When you gotta go…

It’s a great time to be a Jurassic fan. Mattel, who inherited the Jurassic-licence in 2018 for Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, hasn’t limited its designers to the current franchise. Dozens of dinosaurs and other toys from the latest films were produced from Acrocanthosaurus to Zuniceratops, there seems to be no stopping. While most of these toys are heavily marketed towards kids, Mattel has since 2018 servicing longtime Jurassic Park fans as well. Many dinosaurs, vehicles and action figures from the past movies found their home in the Jurassic World Legacy Collection line and on top of that, the brand new…

A Jurassic Park pin brooch for every occasion

Posted on Leave a comment

An outfit in the 1990s wasn’t complete without a Jurassic Park touch. Back in 1993, British company Dufort & Sons Ltd. made Jurassic Park licensed pin brooches featuring photos of the film’s star dinosaurs. They are made of hard plastic with the artwork printed on them, which makes them prone to scratching. The Jurassic Toys collection has a complete set of these pin brooches on their original card backs. Check them out here:
